Preparing for MUSLAF Induction of Officers and Human Right Awareness Campaign

Muslaf members and officer met last night, 15 March 2009, at Misoya at front of Ever Gotesco Mall Commonwealth to discuss this year's Induction of Officers.

They all agree that it must also be the venue in Muslaf's Campaign for more Muslim Human Rights Campaign. Those that must be aware of Muslim Human Rights Issues are not just the Muslims in this Country but the Non-Muslims who are in key position to uphold Human Rights. Thus, for the induction/Muslim Human Rights Campaign, Muslaf will be inviting key Personalities in Institutions who has direct affect on Human Rights.

Muslaf is also planning to hold this event close to the oath taking of the new lawyers. As it will invite newly passed Muslim Lawyers in the hopes that they will understand the need for more Muslim Lawyers who are knowledgeable and skilled in Human Rights matters.

For Muslaf members interested to be active in organizing this event, just contact your officers.

MUSLAF Sends A Letter to OBAMA

MUSLAF wrote a letter to U.S. President BARACK HUSSIEN OBAMA signed by its Officers. This letter was supported by other organizations and networks namely,
  • Young Moro Professionals Network (YMPN) represented by YMPN Chairperson BAIBONN SANGID and YMPN Membership Convenor SAMIRA GUTOC,
  • MEREDEKA represented by HADJI DATU ANSARI ALONTO,
  • Alliance of Muslim Advocates of the Law (AMAL) represented by ABDULHAMID ALAWI Jr.
It questions US Foreign Policy with regard to Muslims not only in the Middle East but the other regions, specially South East Asia. It asked that there will be a move away from a policy of Global War on Terror which is seemingly directed against Muslims. It reminds the US of its responsibility on the Bangsamoro Struggle for Right to Self Determination because it is the most concrete effect of its Foreign Policy.

This letter to US President OBAMA was received on 10 February 2009 by the Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer John Mcguire during the telecoference presentation of Ishaak Newton, a nephew of Martin Luther King, of the Non-violent Struggle of the African Americans for Civil Rights and Liberties.

If you want a copy of the Letter you can email MUSLAF at muslaf@gmail.com.
